1. Who needs a business license and what are the rates?
Anyone doing business in the Town of Meggett needs a Business License. For application click here for rate card click here.

2. Does a homeowner need a Business License to make repairs or improvements to the home?
Not if the Homeowner owner or a family member is performing the work. However, all sub-contractors that are not family members must have a Business License.

3. Where do I get my permits?
You must obtain your permits from Charleston County Planning at 4045 Bridge View Drive, N. Charleston. Call 843-202-7200 for more information or click here.

4.  How do I get a dock permit?
Call the Department of Environmental Control (DHEC) at 843-202-7020 or click here

5. How do I report Public Works issues?
Call Meggett Town Hall at 889-3622 to report:

  • potholes in the road,
  • street lights out
  • overgrown ditches

6.  How do I get in touch with the Wildlife Department?
The number for the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources is 843-709-2257 or click here. They can help with wildlife questions or problems.

7.  How do I get a Voter Registration card?

8.   Who do I call if I see a suspicious vehicle or person in my neighborhood?
Call the Charleston County Police Department at 843-202-1700.

After you have called Charleston County Police, call the Town of Meggett at 843-889-3622 so we can get the information to our Crime Watch Committee. Please do not call the town first. Charleston County provides our police protection.
