Town Council and Mayor
Our town uses a Mayor/Council form of government. Along with setting policy, council members assist in daily management of the town. Each council member has interest in certain areas and the administration keep them up to date on their interest and seek their assistance when necessary.
Elections are held on a staggered basis every two years so there’s never a completely new Council. Council terms are for four years, and members are elected at-large by all registered voters in the Town. The Town Council and Mayor provide leadership and direction to the Town of Meggett and its hired administrators. Public input is encouraged!
The regular Meggett Town Council Meetings start at 7p.m. the fourth Monday of each month. Should the fourth Monday fall on a holiday, the meeting will be held on Tuesday of the same week. Meetings may be called at other times also; all meetings are listed in the Post and Courier and are open to the public. The Meggett Town Council meets in the S.C. Produce Association building adjacent Town Hall.
