Exciting News…

Roxbury Park has over 1000 species observed to date!

1012 to be exact!

The park’s caretaker, Tom Austin, recently shared Roxbury Park’s milestone accomplishment with Town leaders!

The biodiversity of Roxbury Park is easily seen in just one visit, but keeps our visitors coming back year after year.  We want to extend our appreciation to Tom for his hard work and gathering of this information.  He shares the credit of these findings with many visitors, past caretaker and volunteers.

Welcome to Roxbury Park, a natural setting where you can experience sightings of many living creatures and plants indigenous to Charleston County.

Tom Austin is the caretaker at Roxbury Park and is onsite Saturday and Sunday for assistance to our visitors.

As a reminder, if the park is closed, please do not walk around the locked gate and enter the park.

Roxbury Park is owned and managed by the Town Of Meggett, SC. The park is located on the east side of State Highway 174, about 5 miles south of US 17. Covering 157 acres of land,  the park  is bordered by Little Britton Road on the south, the Toogoodoo Creek on the north, a privately owned hayfield on the east, and of course Hwy 174 on the west.
What makes Roxbury Park such a special place is its  eco-system diversity.  Visitors to the park can see and experience eight distinctively unique environments that attract and support an amazing diversity of wildlife. The best part of all is how accesible these areas are, and how quickly and easily visitors can observe all eight.
Through the winter, the park will be open every Saturday and Sunday from 8:00AM until 6:00PM. There is a porta potty located in the parking area.
Plans are already in the works to add one or two canoe/kayak launch sites, fishing platforms, wildlife observation decks, and two walkways through the freshwater pond and swamp that will make the main loop trail complete.
Roxbury Park has a beautiful two bedroom cottage on a clearing surrounded by marsh, a creek, and two fresh water ponds (catch & release only).  It is available for rent (by the night, weekend, or week).
It currently sleeps 8-10 people.  The lawn area around the cottage is also available for weddings, receptions, family reunions, and other similar events. A reserve-able shelter will be available soon, as well as picnic facilities and grills.

The rates for renting the cottage are as follows:
Daily Rate $200.00
3 day weekend $500.00
Weekly $1,050.00
Special Event $1,000.00 per day
Please keep in mind a $1000.00 (refundable) deposit is required on all rentals.
For more information about renting the cottage, or reserving a portion of the park, please contact the Town Of Meggett at 843-889-3622
